Pushing Daisies. It was cancelled after 2 seasons, joining the ranks with other short lived greats like Freaks & Geeks and Firefly. This show is so unique and nothing can replace it!
As a kid, Ned realizes that he has the power to bring the dead back to life with just a touch of his finger. And if he touches them a second time they go back to being dead. However, if he leaves them alive longer than one minute, someone else dies.
Ned (now a grown man) is a pie-maker who buys rotten fruit at a discount and brings it back to life to make excellent pies. He also pairs up with a private detective to help interview corpses for one minute to solve their murders. Ned can't touch his dog Digby or his childhood sweetheart Chuck, because he has brought both of them back from the dead. Unconventional ways of showing affection have to be employed.
I know it probably sounds strange and morbid, but it is done in such an innocent, whimsical way! The colors are extremely vibrant, the architecture fanciful, and there are a handful of episodes that characters burst into song! It almost has a Seussian feel to it. And I absolutely love love love the wry humor! And the plot is continuous, which also happens to be something I enjoy in a TV show!
My favorite character is probably Olive, a waitress at The Pie Hole (yes, that is the name of Ned's pie shop) that unrequitedly loves Ned. She and Emmerson Cod (the private detective) have the best lines. Go watch the first season! Make sure you watch them in order!
